We Need Your Help! Vote for Salem Housing Community Development Corporation in the Chase Community Giving Facebook Campaign!

Did you know that Salem Housing helps our community by providing  affordable housing, home owner and homebuyer  money management and credit  education and home maintenance workshops as well as block club development and community planning.  Neighborhood Revitalization got a great boost this summer as Genesee County Land Bank’s Clean and Green support and stimulus money through Mott Community College made it possible for us to guide 17 neighborhood youth as they maintained 72 vacant lots and painted houses! 

Now, we’re asking for your help.  Please vote for us in the Chase Community Giving campaign!
Salem Housing Community Development Corporation is eligible to win $1 million through this unique Facebook campaign. The program is run by Chase and allows Facebook users to vote for local charities and non-profits to help direct Chase corporate philanthropy dollars to eligible organizations like Salem Housing.

The charity receiving the most votes will be awarded $1 million, the top five runners-up will receive $100,000 each, and the 100 finalists—including the top winners—will be awarded $25,000 each. Additionally, a special advisory board led by prominent national philanthropists will allocate $1 million to the nominated charities of its choice.

So if you aren’t already a Facebook fan of the Salem Housing Community Development Corporation, please join us today and help us get out the vote!

We don’t have a lot of time to get the word out, though. Voting for Round 1 ends December 11. Voting for Round 2 ends January 22, 2010, and the top charities will be announced on or around February 1.

Here’s how you can help Salem Housing:

1. Log in to your Facebook account (you must have a Facebook account in order to vote) and become a fan of Chase Community Giving. You will also have to give the Chase Community Giving application permission to access your Facebook account.  (If you don’t have a  Facebook account, when you click on the GO button, it will help you set up an account.)
2. Search for “Salem Housing Community Development Corporation” and click on the “Vote for Charity” button.

Once you have voted, please encourage your Facebook friends and other contacts to do the same via your status line or links to the Genesee Chamber Foundation.
